Leaving in Russia (moscow) for nearly 8 years and traveling around the world I still think it is the most beautiful Underground station museum in the world and It always inspires me as designer. The Moscow Metro is one of the oldest metro in the world, famous for its extravagant designs and innovative decorations. It is also called as "Underground Palace". There are 177 stations in the Moscow Metro, each decorated with different natural stones. The subway is not just a series of trains and tunnels. Its stations are huge works of art. Many of them are examples of socialist realist art. The trains run every minute, taking 7 million people around Moscow every day. The subway spans the entire Russian capital and now has the capacity to host the entire population of Moscow (11 million) in case of an attack on the city. The Moscow subway is made of marble and granite, each station with a different design. It’s amazing by this sophisticated transportation network that lies deep under the surface of Moscow. It is this network that has enabled Moscow to grow and become the largest city in Europe. Even in one of the globes most expensive cities, the classiest metro in the world.
Considering the recent, tragic events, your post is very timely. Are the trains themselves in the style of the stations or do they project a different aesthetic?
